KING Quest™ Pro Tips & Tricks

The new KING Quest™ Pro premium satellite antenna is designed for ease of use, so you can enjoy your favorite television programming from your RV without difficulty.

This next-level antenna gives you the freedom to take your favorite DIRECTV® SD programming with you on the road, to the great outdoors, or anywhere you go in the continental U.S. Ideal for RVers, sporting and outdoor enthusiasts, tailgaters, long haul truckers or anyone with an active mobile lifestyle, the KING Quest Pro is highly portable, easy-to-use, and includes an ultramodern clear cover.

Here are some helpful tips to consider during the setup process. Remember to also read the Owner’s Manual and Quick Reference Guide for complete instructions before you begin installing your new antenna.

 

Roof Installation

When deciding where to place your antenna on the RV roof, try to select a spot that will allow it to scan for DIRECTV 101 satellite. To do this, place the KING Quest Pro on a stable and reasonably level surface with a clear view of the southern sky. Avoid obstructions like people, vehicles, trees, buildings or any tall objects, which can block signal. Be sure the surface is dry and free of loose dirt or sand.

When you’re ready to install, remember not to:

  • Bend coax cables when routing or overtighten connections. If you use a wrench, you may overtighten the connections and damage your equipment.
  • Install unit on the roof with the rubber feet in place.
  • Stack the antenna on top of or below other electronic devices, as this can cause heat buildup or block the satellite signal from reaching the antenna.

Locating a Signal

The antenna unit begins scanning when you plug in the power inserter. The antenna unit may lock onto the satellite in as little as 2 minutes but may occasionally take up to 10-15 minutes. If you wish to start a new scan, simply press the power inserter’s “RESET” button. This is the preferred method to start a new scan, but there are two alternate methods as well:

  • Disconnect and reconnect the coax from the MAIN port on the antenna unit.
  • Press the “RESET” button on the receiver (for select receivers only, such as models D12, H24 and HR24).

The KING Quest Pro is not programmed to lock onto the 119 satellite, so you will not receive your local channels if they are broadcast from the 119. If you wish to receive programming from the 119 as well as the 101, you can replace the power injector with the UC1000 KING Quest™ Universal Controller.

The universal controller allows you to easily switch between DIRECTV®, DISH® and Bell™ Canada services by making your antenna compatible with a variety of receivers from these different providers. Most portable satellite antennas are designed to receive signals from only one TV provider. With this accessory, you can easily change service providers without the need to buy a new antenna. This is highly recommended for those who travel between Canada and the US frequently, or those who want the freedom to switch between satellite TV providers effortlessly.

Maintenance & Upkeep

The KING Quest Pro requires only minimal maintenance after installation. To prolong the lifespan of your antenna, be sure to not operate it near any indoor or outdoor heat source such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, barbecues, campfires, or other items that produce heat.

In addition, keep the enclosure clean from dirt, bugs, and other debris by hand washing with mild soap and water. KING Dome Magic® may also be applied to help keep snow and rain from building up on the surface. Do not power wash the antenna.

If your antenna is malfunctioning, do not remove its cover without prior authorization. Doing so will void the Limited Warranty. Servicing may be required if the unit has been dropped or damaged in any way or if the unit does not operate normally.
